Welcome to the Democratic Progressive Party’s official English-language blog!
Good to see an official English blog established. It would be vital for DPP to gain global support.
For any product or organization, “branding” (品牌) is always very critical. So it might be a good idea to put DPP’s official logo on this page, and makes the design look like part of DPP’s site (they look like two different organizations now).
Certainly, a link to this site on DPP’s site is needed.
Anyway, great start.
Nicely done. 🙂
A humble slogan donation for your cause:
Taiwan – peace with, not piece of – China
Nice first to make connection with pro-democracy people throughout the world as well as pro-Green Taiwanese everywhere! Best wishes to DPP!
@ddpadmin – Thank you. Actually, I’ve tried to donate that slogan to the DPP for many years, but in all the emails that I’ve sent, I’ve never receieved any reply.
One of the things that have always annoyed me about DPP rallies was the silliness of the English slogans. (example Taiwan Go, Go, Go or UN for Taiwan??)
If you want the world to recongize your cause, the DPP needs a slogan or catch phrase that is smart, easy to remember, good for rally calls and captures the essensce of your cause. I believe my suggestion: “Taiwan – peace with, not piece of – China” is ideal. With just a few simple words, it explains to the world what the real message is from Taiwan. A logo design can be seen at: http://www.taipics.com
Now as it stands most people in the world think Taiwan wants to be part of China because of the success o the KMT media machine (including several ignorant western writers). No one from the DPP challenges the articles written in US and global newspapers. If it wasn’t for Michael Turton at “The View From Taiwan” and a few other people, the voice of free Taiwan would not be heard. http://michaelturton.blogspot.com/
If you just post my logo/slogan suggestion on a few key places in the world (Washington Post, NYTimes, LATimes, other papers AU, UK, etc.), It would not cost much and would get the message out. (even just the logo/slogan on their websites for a month or two would go a long way). Time is running out so you have to be smart and act quickly.
Please note I do not want or need any credit. All suggestions here are freely donated to the DPP. If it means anything, I am a former international marketing manager for a major Taiwan ODM. If you can print this comment out and slip it to Tsai Ing-wen that would be much appreicated! Thanks! Lastly, I will leave one other slogan that you can use for other challenges:
KMT = Keep Marginalizing Taiwan
